We did it. Renton was found guilty on a list of charges so long that he'll be in prison for the rest of forever. My statements and Dad's statements made a huge difference. People listened to me. I stood in front of a room full of strangers and I told them the darkest things about me and I was looked upon with compassion instead of hatred. They saw me as a human being, worthy of their sympathy, not just their wrath. The things that were done to me were not seen as God's work, or a necessary means to an end. They were seen as the horrors they were. A jury of my peers heard my plea, and they judged him as he should be judged.

Aislinn came home from hospital today. Barack Obama was elected the president of the United States. And I saw justice for the crimes committed against myself and my family. Today is a day of so much justice, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of hope and peace.

May it continue.
